John Sutter

John Sutter was thought to of been an amateur photographer. The town historian was fortunate to have obtained his glass negatives from the early 1900's. These negatives have been developed and the picture to the left is of a young man, maybe a Sutter who has just caught what looks like three suckers from the 18 Mile Creek, He is standing on the approach of the bridge where Croops Mill was and is still standing, near the trailer park in Eden Valley. Notice no fancy reel or pole but just a stick with string for line. Taken around 1917. (Courtesy Town of Eden Historian Files.)
