Building a road in the early days was not a simple job. Shown here is the construction of East Church to Kromers Mill, probably in the very early 1900s. The Steam Engine is where the bridge was to cross the creek. The carts were full of gravel, so they were making a gravel road, which probably had been a dirt path before.
